Our Work

Assistance

Rockville HELP assists persons seven days a week to extend a caring, listening ear, provide assistance and refer clients  other resources when needed.

Financial Aid

We offer help with rent and utilities, prescriptions,  and other needs as we're able to accommodate them.

Food

We deliver a three-day supply of food for a family or individuals. Someone (not necessarily the family member who made the call) has to be at home to accept the delivery - we cannot leave food in front of your door.

Services

We can offer limited help with:
  • rent or mortgage payment
  • utility bills (water, electricity, gas)
  • prescription medications
  • emergency food (3-5 days of supplies for a family) delivered to your home

Call us at 301-564-0800 and leave a message to request help.
We are currently out of funds for financial assistance. Please call 311 for other sources of help.
Food assistance continues as normal, with no referral needed.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much food is delivered to a family?

We deliver three days of food to a family. The amount of food depends on the number of people in the household.

How often can a family call for food or request financial assistance?

We will deliver food to a family a maximum of three times in six months, and offer financial assistance once in a twelve-month period.

In what kind of situations do you give financial assistance?

Rockville HELP can provide limited financial assistance for prescriptions, rent, security deposit, or mortgage; as well as utilities, and special needs as we're able. The amount provided varies by need and availability of funds.

Do you deliver meals?

No. We deliver mostly canned and packaged food. In addition we bring bread, eggs, cheese, ground beef, and butter, as available.

Where do you get the food that you give out?

Most of the food comes from donations from congregations, individuals, and businesses. Manna Food Center has supported us for several years with their bulk purchasing program, currently through Stanley Foods. We buy bread, eggs, cheese, and the other refrigerated items on a regular basis. We also purchase specific shelf-stable items as needed to supplement donations. Our MEFP grant from the State of Maryland supports these purchases.
